Every spring, the Johnson County Cattlewomen host Ag Day; an event created for elementary school students to learn about all facets of agriculture and to learn that it isn't just cows and plows. The Lake DeSmet Conservation District is invited to help each child in attendance to plant a tree to take home to plant permanently. This year we planted 115 trees with these kids and had a ball doing so! We were able to discuss why trees are good, where to plant, how to plant and how to take care of them. It was a warm, sunny day and hope the kids got as much from the day as we did!
